Dr. Jeanette Cross, O.D.

Optometrist

Dr. Jeanette Cross, a Reno native, attended the University of Nevada, Reno to pursue her undergraduate degree in neuroscience. During this time, she also gained valuable experience working alongside local optometrists and retina specialists.

Dr. Cross continued her education at Western University of Health Sciences in southern California, earning a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences. She then completed her Doctorate of Optometry at Western University College of Optometry in Pomona, California.

Through her optometry internship, Dr. Cross refined her skills in glaucoma evaluation and management at Dorn Veteran Affairs Medical Center in South Carolina. She also gained experience in ocular disease and post-operative cataract exams at Omni Eye Services in New Jersey. While working in Santa Maria, California, Dr. Cross provided care for numerous patients with diabetic eye conditions. Her final rotation took her to a private practice on Oahu, Hawai’i, where she delivered comprehensive and medical eye care.

Upon graduating, Dr. Cross received recognition from the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for her outstanding leadership and service to the community.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Cross values family time and enjoys traveling with her husband and pup named Churro. She also enjoys rating local milk tea boba shops. Dr. Cross maintains an active lifestyle through dancing, roller skating, and exploring Lake Tahoe’s natural beauty. Dr. Cross is a fluent Spanish speaker and is passionate about educating patients about their eye health.

Committed to community engagement, Dr. Cross participates in the Nevada Latino Alumni Chapter at UNR and a local non-profit organization called Pathfinders. She is thrilled to return to Northern Nevada and provide exceptional eye care to her community.

My Story

Dr. Jeanette Cross was raised in Reno, Nevada. She attended Spanish Springs High School before earning her undergraduate degree in neuroscience at the University of Nevada, Reno. As she pursued higher education, she worked with local optometrists and gained further
knowledge in the profession of eye care.

She continued her education in southern California at Western University of Health Sciences, where she completed a masters degree in Medical Sciences. Dr. Cross then pursued her Doctorate of Optometry at Western University College of Optometry in Pomona, California. During her optometry internship, she enhanced her skills in glaucoma evaluation and management at Dorn Veteran Affairs Medical Center in South Carolina.

She gained experience in ocular disease and performed post-operative cataract exams in the fast-paced environment of Omni Eye Services in New Jersey. While catering to underserved communities in Santa Maria, California, Dr. Cross cared for numerous patients with diabetic eye conditions.

During her last rotation, she provided comprehensive and medical eye care at a private practice on Oahu, Hawai’i. She graduated in May 2022 with recognition from Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for outstanding leadership and service to the community.

Dr. Cross honors the importance of family and enjoys traveling with her husband. She aims to stay engaged in an active lifestyle by hiking local trails, dancing, roller skating and enjoying the beauty and activities Lake Tahoe has to offer.

She is fluent in Spanish and loves educating patients about their eyes. Dr. Cross stays involved with the local community through the Nevada Latino Alumni Chapter and is excited to return to Northern Nevada to provide excellent eye care.

When Dr. Cross isn’t in the office she enjoys rating boba shops, going to the gym and bugging her husband about getting a dog. 🙂
