About Dr. Mendoza
Optometrist & Owner of Falcon Vision
Billy Mendoza is the proud owner of Falcon Vision, a thriving eye care practice he established after starting his journey in 2010 at the Walmart Vision Center on 2nd Street. With a desire to better serve the community, he has expanded into a larger office to provide more comprehensive care.
Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Billy is a true local. He graduated from McQueen High School and went on to earn a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nevada Reno. After completing his optometry education in Orange County, Los Angeles, he was determined to return home to practice, following in the footsteps of his hardworking parents. Billy’s father, a casino dealer, and his mother, who owned a travel agency, inspired him to work tirelessly and give back to the community. In honor of his mother, he named his parent company “Goldeneye Corp.”

Billy’s passion for eye care began unexpectedly when he was hired as an assistant by Dr. Richard Meier at Meier Eye and Vision (now Black Rock Vision). There, he discovered the power of vision therapy, helping children with vision difficulties such as lazy eye and eye turns, as well as issues related to dyslexia and traumatic brain injuries. One poignant moment in his career was when he helped a young boy who had no color vision regain his ability to see color, a moment that deeply influenced Billy’s decision to pursue optometry. He later expanded his expertise in specialties like Low Vision and Neurology to further help his patients.
Outside of work, Billy is a devoted cheerleader for his children. His oldest son, a competitive swimmer, has been a part of the Northern Nevada Aquatics race team since a young age, and Billy is hopeful he could one day represent the United States in the Olympics. His second son is a competitive race kart driver and Billy serves as his team principal, mechanic, and coach. His youngest daughter is an avid fighter with a love for wrestling, and though Billy is not sure if she’ll pursue kickboxing, he is currently taking her to ballet classes. Billy and his wife, whom he met while at the University of Nevada Reno, enjoy spending time together discovering new spots around Tahoe, from hiking to snowshoeing in the winter.
Billy’s dedication to both his family and his practice is a testament to his passion for his work and his community, and he continues to strive to make a difference in the lives of his patients.
